Double Orthopedic surgery for American Mountaineer in Chennai

A 59 year old American Mountaineer underwent double Orthopedic surgery in Chennai recently. He has climbed several peaks in Asia and Soutn America. His crowning glory came in the year 2000 when he made it to Mt.Everest, the tallest mountain in the world. He made it with a damaged knee having torn his anterior cruciate ligament in 1997. He also damaged his left shoulder recently while walking on horizontal ice. Unable to afford orthopedic surgery in his native country in order to preserve his resources for mountaineering, he chose to come to India for double orthopedic surgery.

He first underwent an Arthroscopic ACL reconstruction and two weeks later an Arthroscopic treatment for a partially damaged rotator cuff. In the meanwhile while recuperating at the seaside resort of Mamallapuram, he also initiated dental treatment.
